Damascus Summer Arabic Program (DSAP)
This is an intensive eight-week program to study Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and colloquial specially tailored for US universities graduates.
Level of Instruction
- Lower-Intermediate: for students who have completed one year of academic Arabic or equivalent at an American academic institution.
- Intermediate: for students who have completed two years of academic Arabic or equivalent at an American academic institution.
- Advanced: for students who have completed three years of academic Arabic or equivalent at an American academic institution.
- Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP): tutoring for groups of two in different specializations (history, law, jurisprudence, journalism, political economy, literature).
Please note that all students will have to take the Damascus Arabic Placement Test (DAPT) on the first day of classes.
Course Information
- Total number of contact hours128 hrs; MSA: 96 hrs / Colloquial: 28 hrs.
- Number of students in each section: 3-10.
- Instructional materials: packets prepared by teaching staff.
- Method of instruction: communicative, covering the four language skills (Reading comprehension, speaking, writing, listening comprehension) in addition to grammar.
Testing: weekly quizzes, one progress test and a final exam
